Air raid alarm at 4:25 AM changed to alert at 12:30 PM. No activity, but guards increased in compound and much moving about from 2:00 AM on.

New mail in today, being censored and assorted. Payroll for 2 mos. being made up which will be most agreeable as everyone is out of tobacco. In addition we hope to obtain some soap and coconuts. The latter have been quite plentiful in mess issue so that we have it grated in lugao every day. There is a pink Philippine cloth in the commissary which can be bought out of postal savings and for which a number of orders have been placed.

Major T. B. Maury F.A.-very friendly- keeps talking to me about R-A. Will consider later.
